Creative Conversations - Annandale Arts Center

After a 3 year pandemic-related break, we’re excited to be picking up this event again to engage in conversations on mental health. Artists of different disciplines are invited to bring their unique perspectives and commentary by creating new work around the theme of ‘be longing’ as it relates to mental health. Artists will be joined by the voices of thinkers and practitioners who engage with these issues in different spheres.

The series will consist of a visual art exhibition and a performance and forum night. Visual art will be displayed in an exhibition at Annandale Creative Arts Centre (ACAC) over a week and short performance works will be presented alongside a forum of speakers on the evening of Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd September 2023, also at ACAC.

The Visual Art exhibition which I am a part of will run from 20th September until 1st October.

This is a limited-time immersive creators experience, available from 30 June - 28 July 2023, where almost all of the hotel room’s hard and soft furnishings, decorative items, food, beverages and toiletries have been removed and replaced with Handmade Canberra Market Stallholders creations.

Not only can you stay in the room, but you can actually buy any of the Handmade items within the room, either enjoying them during your stay or to take home with you, including some of my vases and paintings.

This Sunday Selah will be lead by Tania Vrancic as you create with clay.

This is a mindfulness practise. Learning to be fully present in the moment but focussing on the tactility of clay and the act of making. You will enjoy a peaceful experience where your hands will be busy creating a clay piece, a pinch pot or a plate, allowing your mind to become quiet and calm.

There will be time for silence, and for chatter, and a time for sharing stories. All craft levels welcome.

Tania’s bright little studio is at her contemporary home in Red Hill. To be COVID safe and not miss out on the fun Tania will set up her artworks outside with ceramic demonstrations filmed and shown on a screen throughout the day and she will be there to answer your questions.

Visitors will enjoy browsing through porcelain vessels, tableware, jewellery and hanging ornaments, a perfect way to begin some early Christmas shopping. In the spirit of being COVID safe choose a free fabric face mask with your purchase until stock lasts, one per customer.
